From forgotten farmstead to living estate
Domein Walbrugge is not a new building behind an old façade. It is an 18th-century square farmstead that has been transformed in recent years — with respect for its past — into what it is today: a place where people come together.
The farmstead lies at the foot of the Tiegemberg, on the border of the Flemish Ardennes and south-west Flanders. For generations this was a working farm. When the last agricultural activities stopped, domein Walbrugge risked falling into decay — like so many Flemish farmsteads.
The current owner saw it differently. What began as a restoration project grew into a vision: giving the farmstead a new purpose without losing its soul. Each building was renovated with an eye for authentic materials and techniques. The courtyard was relaid, the barn transformed into a hall, the stables into guest rooms.
Today, domein Walbrugge is an event venue, B&B and meeting space in one. But above all it is a place with a story — and room for the stories of everyone who comes here.
